AUSTRALIA LOST SOLDIERS of FROMELLES (WORLD WAR I) COIN of 2010 CARD PACKAGED with DETAILED INFORMATION

This World War I battle (in part as a diversion for the Battle of the Somme, about 50 miles south of Fromelles, which was occupied by the Germans) is said to have been the bloodiest day in Australian military history (July 19 – 20, 1916), After a day & night of fighting, some 1,500 British and more than 5,500 Australians either lost their lives, were wounded or were captured. Adolf Hitler, as a 27 year old message runner was present at Fromelles.

The coin features an image of the Cobbers Statue erected in the Australian Memorial Park at Fromelles and shows Sergeant Simon Fraser who under a forceful German bombardment returned to the battlefield repeatedly with his fellow Australians to rescue his wounded countrymen. The coin comes attractively mounted with full descriptive information on a colorful card.
