COLONIAL PENNSYLVANIA JULY 1775 TEN  (10) SHILLINGS ISSUED in PHILADELPHIA, SIGNED LAMBERT CADWALADER, NOTED SOLDIER & CONGRESSMAN

He was born in Trenton, and later attended City College (present day University of Pennsylvania), but did not graduate. Instead, he went into business with his brother John and as they both prospered they began to get involved in anti-British issues. In 1774, he has elected to the Provincial Assembly and was a prominent member of the militia and by January 1776, was promoted as lieutenant colonel Cadwalader of the 3rd Pennsylvania Regiment of the Continental Army. After the Battle of Brooklyn, he worked with George Washington on the defenses of Brooklyn Heights.

In 1784, New Jersey chose him as a delegate to the Continental Congress and was elected to the U.S. Congress twice, in 1788 and 1792
