GERMAN REICHENBURG 20 KRONEN of 1918 – HITLER’S FIRST OCCUPATION

The German Bohemia Province ( Provinz Deutschböhmen ) was located in part of Northern and Western Bohemia near the German border. The capital of the Province was Liberec ( Reichenberg in German ) from where this 20 Kronen note was issued on October 30th 1918 as an emergency money. The existence of the German Bohemia Province lasted only 3 months from October 27th to December 27th 1918. The area was a part of the Bohemian Kingdom for many hundreds years, with the majority of people living in this area being of German origin. During WWI this German population supported Austria and its emperor in collaboration with Germany against France, England, Russia and America. In December the German Bohemians under intense pressure ( fighting and occupation of Reichenberg ) gave in to the Czech government and became part of Czechoslovakia-a situation which simmered for 20 years until Hitler annexed the area back to Germany.
