BURMA DECLARES WAR on the UNITED STATES – BANKNOTE of the JAPANESE OCCUPATION 1/2, 10 & 100 RUPEES
The Burmese wanted their independence from Britain and Japan said they’d be willing to move in that direction. So, in 1942 Japan took the country and proceeded to train the Burma Independence Army.
Freedom was declared on August 1, 1943 ( and war against the USA & the UK declared ), but a fascist Japanese influenced leader ( Ba Maw ) was put in as head honcho. Aung San ( father of Aung San Suu Kyi ) was his opposition, which won out after the Japanese surrendered in 1945.
